Sorry for the cut and paste, but I didn't really feel like retyping the whole message.
I just purchased a 6.5mm Itialian Carcano last weekend and was wondering more about its history. I have read up on the internet more about it but I am having trouble finding one that looks like mine. The closet I can find is one that is for sale here. The link is http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie..?Item=93000115
However mine has a few differences. I am lacking the sling piece on the very butt end of the rifle. The markings are there for one but it looks like it was never added. Also I have a very weird looking safety behind the trigger. The markings on it are RE Terni with the crown symbol. Also the serial number on the barrel is V2214 and matches the stock. Also there is a year engraved on the barrel of 1939 with roman numerals XVIII after it.
The two main differences are shown in these photo's
